10 kid-friendly pop songs that get my Boys up and moving
Some days I just need music to give me energy or to add calm to our crazy house filled with testosterone. I also love music for getting my Boys up off the couch and adding that extra element of fun at home.
We sometimes have a disco on a Friday night where we pump some kid-friendly tunes and encourage our Boys to dance. We always end up in hysterics watching their funny dance moves. Add in some balloons or costumes and you can take it to a whole new level of fun!
Our Boys love putting music on in the background when they are outside kicking a footy or playing cricket. When we owned a trampoline, my little men would ask me to put some tunes on so they could make up an acrobatic routine to the music.
On a rainy day there’s always the party games to play at home to music. Freeze and musical chairs are popular with my Boys.

How can this song not make you Happy and want to dance? I’ve seen firsthand what this song does to my son’s classroom in the morning. It totally turns their frowns into smiles and I love that!
Can’t stop the feeling – Justin Timberlake (Trolls movie)
My highlight from the Trolls movie… The chair dancing that went on in the cinema while this song was playing. I don’t think my kids have stopped dancing to this song since!
Roar – Katy Perry
An oldie but a goodie! In the past my boys have asked me to put this on repeat while they bounce on the trampoline.
Gangham style – PSY
Change “Sexy Lady” to “Chips and Gravy” and you have a winner. I have to say this is a favourite song of my Boys! We’ve been to school discos where this has been played and it gets EVERYONE up dancing.
I gotta feeling – The Black Eyed Peas
One of MY faves and our Boys are loving it too. Great for a home disco or to get the energy pumping at a backyard game of cricket.
What does the fox say – Ylvis
A very unique and catchy song by a Norwegian comedy duo. My Boys think it’s pretty cool. Give it a try and see what reaction you get!
Firework – Katy Perry
My little man’s kindy class chose this song to sing at their end of year concert. It was so beautiful to watch. He still likes to sing and dance to this Katy Perry classic.
Kung fu fighting – Carl Douglas
This song is sure to get your little kung fu fighters fly kicking the air and getting rid of some energy. Perfect to put on post birthday party when your kids need to wear off an excess of sugar.
Shake it off? – Taylor Swift
The biggest hit which will always be cool for the kids. This song gets my Boys moving, shaking and singing every time.
Who let the dogs out – Baha Men
A throwback for us parents to relive through our children. My Boys particularly like to sing and act out the “Woof Woof” part.
